Lost in Time VR teaser home

For the launch of the Lost in Time interactive TV show in Norway by The Future Group (now Pixotope), an interactive teaser experience was created for Gear VR. It featured three of the worlds from the show of which the home base is shown here as a 360 still image. The complex, and very realistic Unreal Engine scenes were created by a large team of artists and developers working at TFG.

The second virtual set from the show was the wild west, complete with a steam train and a western town. This is a mono still image from the stereo 360 video, rendered in Unreal Engine using the Stereo Panoramic Movie Capture by Kite & Lightning from the extremely complex real-time UE4 scene used for the TV show.

The last of the sets for the Gear VR teaser was from the medieval world. Here we see a big catapult contestants would use to shoot on moving targets. For this project I was the producer, director and UX designer for the VR experience. The app was programmed by Stig Olavsen and a 360 spatial soundscape was designed by Gullik Gulliksen and Kurder King.

Using spatial audio featuring the digital assistant “Eva”, the user would be guided to two locations outside the home base. Gazing at either of these locations for a few seconds would teleport the user to either world. This created an intuitive and easy to use VR experience.
